Digital SLR Kit That I Recommend as an Entry Level Camera
One of the questions I get a lot is “what camera and lens do you recommend for someone who wants to take better photos?” Digital SLR cameras are constantly improving and there are so many models out there, I can see why it would be confusing. If you are thinking of upgrading your current model
One of the questions I get a lot is “what camera and lens do you recommend for someone who wants to take better photos?” Digital SLR cameras are constantly improving and there are so many models out there, I can see why it would be confusing. If you are thinking of upgrading your current model ( I highly recommend if your camera is older than five years) or want to upgrade from a point and shoot, I recommend the new Canon T5i. Here is a short description:
The new flagship of the spectacular Rebel Line, the EOS Rebel T5i, is here to renew your artistic side with amazing imaging features and full-featured functionality. Users will be impressed at how simple and intuitive it is to create breathtaking photos with ease. The incredible image quality and performance starts with an 18.0 Megapixel CMOS (APS-C) sensor and Canon’s superb DIGIC 5 Image Processor. Combined with an extensive ISO range of 100–12800 (expandable to 25600 in H mode), the EOS Rebel T5i boasts crisp, detailed images, even in low-light situations. A continuous shooting speed of up to 5.0 fps allows for fast action capture. 9 cross-type AF focus points help ensure crisp focus throughout the frame, and the Hybrid CMOS AF system enables speedy and accurate autofocus when shooting in Live View mode. In addition, the camera is compatible with Canon STM lenses for smooth, quiet AF performance. And the performance doesn’t stop with photos. EOS Full HD Movie mode with Movie Servo AF makes shooting high quality movies easy, and the brilliant Vari-angle Touch Screen 3.0-inch Clear View LCD monitor II makes composing fun. Seven Creative Filters, now viewable in real time, puts composition control directly in your hands and is just one of the many features of the EOS Rebel T5i that is sure to renew your creative soul.
I recommend it with the STM lens so you can use if for video. This camera is awesome and you will get a lot of bang for the buck. It is priced at about $1099. You can check it out at the store. If your budget allows I would also recommend another lens. Known as the Nifty Fifty, the Canon 50 mm lens has a wide aperture of f/1.8 compared to f/5.6 for the kit lens. This lens is lightweight and inexpensive and I recommend it to new photographers to help bringthem to another level in photography. The wide aperture will create incredible shallow depth of field for portraits, flowers, still-lifes, birds, etc. It is priced at about $125. You can find more information about the nifty fifty at the store.
Additional accessories you might want to consider would be an external flash, tripod, lens filters and extra memory cards and batteries. You can shop for accessories here.
This camera, with or without the accessories, will enable you to take amazing photos and videos.
